Privacy policy

1. What we collect

When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password — we never store your plaintext password. When you set up your profile via voice or text, we store the structured data you provide (skills, experience, education, languages). We do not store raw audio. We generate and store embedding vectors from your profile for job matching — these are mathematical representations, not readable text.

2. How we use your data

Your profile data is used exclusively to: (1) match your profile against job listings using vector similarity, (2) generate tailored CVs and cover letters, (3) power your AI interview practice sessions. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with employers without your explicit action.

3. Third-party services

We use Supabase (EU data residency) for database storage, OpenAI for generating embeddings and AI text, Anthropic Claude for CV generation and interview coaching, and Hume AI for voice interaction. Each provider processes only the data necessary for that function and is bound by data processing agreements.

4. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access all data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your account and all associated data, export your data in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@saycv.app. We will respond within 30 days.

5. Cookies

We use one HttpOnly cookie to store your authentication refresh token. This is a strictly necessary cookie — it is not used for tracking. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking. No consent banner needed (but we show one to be transparent).

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated statistics (e.g. total job matches) may be retained for service improvement.
